My journey into the realm of digestive health began as a quest to find solutions to my own struggles. Dealing with IBS and acid reflux from a young age, I thought it was just my “normal.” Daily reflux and dodging trigger foods became routine, and the advice from my doctor was limited to elevating my bed with bricks or discussing surgical interventions. Alongside these digestive woes, anxiety, food avoidance, and worsening indigestion compounded my challenges, creating a cocktail of discomfort I was reluctant to confront.

It wasn’t until my time in chiropractic school that I delved deeper into functional medicine and discovered strategies to tackle digestive issues head-on. I became my own guinea pig, experimenting with supplements, herbs, and essential oils. I embraced dietary tweaks like incorporating pickled foods and applesauce as prebiotics, or opting for small, frequent meals to keep my energy levels steady and curb those “hangry” moments.

But optimal health isn’t just about managing symptoms—it’s about finding joy and sustainability in everyday practices. I started to take charge of my diet, relishing in cooking adventures to ensure I knew exactly what I was putting into my body. Hiking became a passion, meditation a daily ritual, and yes, I even found guidance in my horoscope from time to time!

With this blog, my aim is to adopt a “student first, teacher second” approach, sharing my ongoing journey of discovery with you. I’ll sift through the latest research findings, offering insights and strategies gleaned from my clinical experience.
